5-45 a.m. and we both woke early and settled back with the essential morning coffee. I can hear the trains rattling past just past the end of our road while I am sitting here typing this with a buzz of nervous tension.
It has taken us thirty years or more to get around to doing this trip and here we are at last.
Taxi is booked, accommodation in Wellington - YHA booked so all should be well.
Typical Lloyd, I am smothering my usual instinctive feeling that this is too good, something will go wrong. Actually succeeding fairly well in that regard. So that's a victory.
I bought a new - larger suitcase for the trip. Now I am concerned it might be larger than the tour people want but given we are living out of our suitcases for a month I felt some fresh clothing was essential.
Packed and repacked yesterday, fitted in some of Anne's excess stuff. Checked lists carefully, all the usual stuff you do when travelling.
I am quite glad I still have a mental age of 14 years because it means I get a real kid's thrill out of all of this.
Itinerary: Monday to Sunday playing tourists on Wellington.
